Facebook is not the culprit here, its a deep rooted resentment. From what i gathered when i went there its everybody that doesnt like Muslims. Even the one muslim guy I met told me the Muslims dont like the Buddhists either. Its a cultural thing, I dont think many Burmense would use facebook, most wouldnt even have internet access.

  2. Relevant article in Wired recently: [Bad Actors Are Using Social Media Exactly As Designed](https://www.wired.com/story/bad-actors-are-using-social-media-exactly-as-designed/):

    > commentators and companies describe these activities as “manipulation” or “abuse” of today’s ubiquitous websites and apps. The impulse is to portray this odious behavior as a strange, unpredictable, and peripheral contortion of the platforms.

    > But it’s not. It’s simply using those platforms as designed.

    I think the same applies.

EDIT: To wit, saying Facebook wasn’t designed for hate speech is like saying books weren’t designed for printing lies. It doesn’t work like that.
