Tunelark is a new tool for music teachers: Assign educational games that adapt automatically to students’ skill levels. Note reading, ear training, music theory, and more.

Who is this for?

Tunelark is designed for music teachers, particularly teachers at one-to-one schools where every student has access to a device. By assigning educational games to students, teachers free up time and give students a way to learn skills at their own pace.

Is this an app or a website?

  • It’s a website (tunelark.com/teachers) which means you don’t have to download anything and upgrades happen automatically.
  • It’s mobile-optimized, so the entire website works on smartphones, tablets, and computers.

How does this work?

  • Visit tunelark.com/teachers to learn more and get started.
  • As the teacher, you create a class, invite students, and choose a set of games for them to play based on their skill levels and goals. Students play a little every week, and you can track their progress as they learn critical music skills on their own at their own pace.
  • You can sign up for a free 30-day trial and set up a class in 2 minutes. This video shows how it works.

What can I teach using Tunelark?

  • You can teach students to read notes fluently in treble, bass, or alto clef
  • You can teach interval, chord, inversions, and soprano voice ear training
  • You can teach music theory fundamentals

What’s coming next?

In time for the upcoming school year, we are building lots of new educational content and class management features. For example:

  • Pitch accuracy ear training
  • Rhythmic sight reading
  • Key signature recognition
  • Chord progression ear training
  • A new, extensive set of games introducing music theory concepts
  • A set of games teaching how to construct intervals, chords, and scales on the piano keyboard
  • Google Classroom integration

What does it cost?

  • Our mission is to make music education more fun, efficient, and accessible. We have a financial assistance program in place to ensure all teachers and students can have access to Tunelark. Please get in touch for more information about that program.
  • We are also offering a 20% discount to members of this subreddit who are purchasing their first subscription. Just email team at tunelark dot com to request your discount.
