The CEO of AT&T is an unethical POS. He put the Fixer on the AT&T payroll as fast as can be to protect his merger. The guy threw away his credibility with me. I unbundled my phone, Internet and TV then bundled them again with another vender sold all shares with that craphole.
There seems to be a common thread between the GOP giving away trillions to corporations, and those companies receiving these benefits — lie about the good it will do in order to maximize profits.
Trump’s “tax break” was the ONLY meaningful piece of legislation he and BOTH GOP controlled houses of Congress were able to pass, NOT anything for immigration, NOT anything for rebuilding our infrastructure, NOT anything to fix our broken health care system, and NOT a single effort to lower the cost of prescription drugs.
This shows you clearly where their priority was — a cash grab from taxpayers. It was all a con for the richest among us to get even richer, while Americans are pitted against each other over nonsense.
Trump needs to go ASAP! Impeach that motherfucker!
Keep this in mind every time people cite why the Amazon deal would be so good for wherever they land… this is what usually happens with those sweetheart tax break deals- the businesses have no incentive to actually honor their part of the deal, as there is no penalty for failing to do so.
Not sure what anyone expected, business acting like a business and just trying to make more money. This is the same company, rebranding their own 4G as 5G without actually making it any better.
I was laid off by At&t in 2017, I got hired back as a term splicer just so I didn’t have to hit the streets. I find easier to find a new job when you’re still employed. I spent almost a year as a term employee using that time to apply and find a new career and that search ending last year when I got hired on as s State Telecommunications technician. Thank you At&t for helping me find a better career choice.
Another Twist & Turn
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me over and over and over again… maybe it’s the economic model.
How are Republican voters so stupid that they keep supporting trickle down economics when **** like this happens every time it’s attempted? Most people saw this coming because this is what happens every single time. Republicans are like “you can’t just give all the non upper class people money that’s socialism, you have to give it to the rich and corporations then they’ll give it to us because they’re cool and said they would on TV.”
I work for a not-for-profit that is 50% state funded and 50% federally funded. We are held accountable for every. *******. penny. we spend. it infuriates me that for profits can get away with not following through with their promises, meanwhile we get nailed to the ******* wall for not dotting an ‘i’ on one piece of paperwork.
edit: fix da lettar
So much winning.
It’s almost as if a multi-billion dollar company’s “promise” doesn’t mean anything at all.
Promises are for suckers. Contracts or its a scam.
Glad to be a wireless customer of At&t **sarcasm**
Not surprising big business loking out for the shareholders. Greed is rampant in the good ol usofa.
I’m not even slightly surprised. Telecom companies have been pulling **** like this for years. Anyone who thought there would be a different outcome this time should have their head checked because that is the definition of insanity.
Actually, if you look at their notes, the 7000 jobs they promised were not AT&T jobs but an analysis of their capital spend. Aka. 7000 jobs for other companies as a result of their expected additional capital spend. It is particularly disingenuous analysis. Doubly so when their [capital spend is expected to decrease in 2020](https://www.lightreading.com/mobile/5g/atandt-hints-at-possible-decline-in-capex-in-2020/d/d-id/750124) as a result of [IMO] the TW purchase as they are trying to pay off their debt.
Edit: source for the 7000 claim:
>[“What we’ve said was that AT&T planned to invest an additional $1 billion in the United States this year as a result of tax reform, and that research shows that every $1 billion in capital invested in the telecom industry creates about 7,000 good-paying jobs for American workers, across the broader economy,” the memo says, according to the news site.](https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2019/01/att-reportedly-plans-layoffs-despite-tax-cut-and-fcc-deregulation/)
It’s almost like the purpose of regulation is to *force* companies to do good
They were also counting on Huawei cheap equipment to get them upgraded to 5G. Once that wasn’t and option, they had no plan. They are run by inept people who cant see more than a month ahead.
It’s almost like giving rich people money just let’s them spend it on themselves.
Definitely didn’t see that with the 800 billion dollar bailout for the banks.
Or when corporations got a huge tax break in the 90’s and promised to pass it on to their employees.
Or when they got a huge tax break again in the 2000’s, multiple times, with the *same exact* promise with the *same exact* outcome.
You know guys… I’m starting to wonder if we should consider the idea that maybe these companies are lying?
This country is so ******* stupid.
There’s no such thing as a promise when it comes to business and government. It’s either in writing in a binding contract or it’s puffery/marketing spin to dupe the public into thinking a giant turd is in their best interest.
Why don’t we reward companies based on what they do, not what they promise?
Corporation’s gonna corporate.
AT&T is one of the most dishonest corporations to ever exist.
They promised 7000 new jobs but never said anything about the old ones…
Tax and Job Cuts Act
Art of the Steal.
They’ll do it again in another 15 years or so. Seriously.
Donnie-boy got played like a goddamn fiddle…again.
